We are proud to announce the commencement of our 29th annual Hap Ki Do tournament for Yoon’s Martial Arts School. At Yoon’s Martial Arts School, we commit ourselves to educating our students in life essential trainings of the body, mind and soul. Teachings throughout the entire curriculum consist of various techniques of self defense, kicking, patterns, a strong focus on moral and ethical lectures, as well as no-to-light contact sparring and grappling.
Over the years, we have developed a very successful annual tournament, allowing our students the opportunity to apply all of the traditional and advanced forms of Hap Ki Do. Students are given the opportunity to experience an actual striking environment with their team mates, while being guarded by sanctioned protective gear.
We constantly strive to implement the fundamentals that our school flourishes on; which include excellent techniques, great manners, great sportsmanship, self protection and personal achievement. To ensure the continued success of our students in all of these aspects, we promote point sparring in our tournament. We feel that it is essential to the curriculum that the students know and understand situations in which the need for self defense might arise. Therefore, we feel the tournament better prepares them should they be confronted with a situation in life where they would need to defend themselves physically.
We are also devoted to providing our students with a focus on humility and humbleness. It is important that our students know, and understand that it is not about the win or loss of their matches, but rather the experience and knowledge that is gained, by their participation. Through special tournament training, we cultivate tournament skills, etiquette, engagement and conditioning, to optimize their competitive performance. As well, we mentally prepare them for any circumstance and outcomes.
In the past, we have held our event at a large venue, to help raise money for various charities. Starting in 2010, we took a different approach and decided to bring the profits from our event back to our school community, and introduced a scholarship fund. The Yoon’s Scholarship Fund helps students in need, who could not otherwise afford martial arts lessons.
The tournament this year will be held at the Don Hartmans Northeast Sportsplex. We would like to invite anyone and everyone that appreciates the martial arts, to come and enjoy the refined performances in all aspects, of our students.
