Statement by the Prime Minister of Canada on Korean New Year
February 8, 2016
Ottawa, Ontario
The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, today issued the following statement on the Korean New Year:
“Today, Canadians of Korean descent will celebrate Seollal and welcome the year of the Monkey.
“Seollal is a time to reflect on the year that has passed, recognize good fortune, and look optimistically to the year ahead. Korean Canadians – and around the world – will pay their respects to their elders and ancestors, visit with family and friends, and enjoy traditional feasts.
“As we mark the New Year, let us also reflect on the immense contributions of Canadians of Korean descent that have helped make Canada the strong and diverse country that it is today.
“On behalf of our family, Sophie and I wish all those celebrating the New Year health, prosperity, peace, and happiness.
